Chad Schavey
Owner & CEO
Chad Schavey serves as the Owner & CEO of ChurchShield, LLC, where he oversees accounting, financial, payroll, and tax services for more than 1,000 churches, over 800 payroll clients, and more than 6,000 church payroll employees nationwide. In addition to leading the firm’s day-to-day operations, Chad manages a team of more than 50 highly skilled professionals who have dedicated their lives to serving churches and ministries with their compliance needs. Together they assist clients in all 50 states, as well as numerous mission organizations operating overseas. Prior to joining ChurchShield, Chad worked for a regional CPA firm where he specialized in compilations, reviews, audit engagements, monthly accounting services, consulting, tax planning, and tax return preparation. His broad experience in church and nonprofit financial management has made him a trusted advisor to ministries across the country. Chad earned his B.S. in Accounting from Liberty University and is passionate about helping churches and ministries strengthen their financial stewardship and operational excellence. Outside of work, he is a devoted husband and father of four.

Owner & CPA/Tax Attorney
Pamela Schavey currently leads the Executive division of ChurchShield, a specialized branch of the firm that serves some of the largest and most complex churches and ministries in the country. In her role, Pam provides comprehensive guidance in the areas of accounting, auditing, tax, legal, and IRS nonprofit compliance matters. Prior to her role with ChurchShield, Pam served as in-house CPA Tax Attorney for Lakewood Church under Pastor Joel Osteen. Pam graduated summa cum laude from Oral Roberts University with a B.S. in Accounting, earning a perfect 4.0 GPA and recognition as the university’s top accounting student. She later received her law degree from Regent University. She is currently licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in both Virginia and Indiana and is also admitted to practice law and in good standing in both states, holding a total of four professional licenses. Outside of work, she is the mother of four children, which she considers the greatest blessing and honor of her life.

Nathan Baker
Director of Accounting Services
Nathan serves as an account manager for several churches. In addition to assisting in day-to-day procedures, he is able to assist churches with reconciling bank statements, complex journal entries, and reporting. He has had experience with both managing clients as well as transitioning them to ChurchShield’s accounting services. Nathan graduated from Bethel College with a B.A. in Accounting and a minor in economics. Nathan is married to his wife Whitney.

Senior Accountant
Faith joined ChurchShield in 2014. She assists clients with a range of responsibilities including processing payroll and filing tax returns and payments. Faith graduated from Anderson University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. She is currently working on earning her CPA.

Accounting Assistant
Jack Schavey serves as an Accounting Assistant within the executive division of ChurchShield. In this role, he works closely with his mother, Pam Schavey, supporting day-to-day accounting, tax, and legal operations for large church clients. He is currently an incoming sophomore at Baylor University, where he is studying accounting and finance. Jack is actively involved in campus organizations including Scholars of Finance, the Consulting Group at Baylor, the Baylor Finance & Investment Club, and the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He has earned summa cum laude distinction with a 4.0 GPA, is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society, and has been named to the Dean’s Academic Honor Roll in both semesters throughout his first year. He is also Microsoft Excel Certified and holds the Bloomberg Finance Fundamentals Certification. Jack’s future plans include obtaining his CFP designation and pursuing a career in financial advising, with the long-term goal of starting his own wealth management firm.

Accounting Intern
Carlos Gallardo-Lopez is an Accounting Intern at ChurchShield, where he supports the accounting staff in daily financial operations and assists with maintaining accurate and organized client financial records. He is an incoming sophomore at Butler University, pursuing a degree in Accounting. Carlos maintains a 3.9 GPA and has been named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for both the fall and spring semesters. He is actively engaged on campus as a member of the Butler University Accounting Club and Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Carlos intends to continue his academic studies after graduating by completing his master’s degree in accounting, followed by the pursuit of his CPA certification.

Jared Hodge J.D., CPA
Director of Compliance Services
Jared assists with church governance structure, reviews organizational documents, and assists in the organization or incorporation of new churches and ministries. He reviews and makes recommendations regarding compensation and benefits matters, and he also drafts and reviews contracts and other IRS compliance documents, prepares tax returns, and assists with a broad spectrum of tax and legal issues. Jared holds a law degree from Regent University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude. He graduated magna cum laude from Anderson University with an undergraduate degree in accounting. He is licensed in Indiana as both an attorney and a Certified Public Accountant.

Ryan Foust
Director of Tax and Operations
Ryan currently serves as ChurchShield’s Operations Manager, overseeing the staff and the day-to-day operations of the firm. Ryan also helps lead the tax, accounting, and audit departments; working not only on the projects within these departments, but also with the managers of these departments to come up with innovative ways to serve our clients. Ryan graduated with honors from Anderson University with a degree in accounting and economics. He also serves on the board of a campus ministry in Charlotte and lends his expertise to a variety of local nonprofits.

Kristin Oechsle
Director of Employee Benefits
Kristin joined ChurchShield in 2005 to serve office and administrative matters. Through the years, Kristin has taken on a wide range of office responsibilities. She handles everything from accounts receivable, accounts payable, human resources, health and life insurance, and is currently leading our payroll department, while in her spare time builds SQL queries and dashboard reports. Kristin graduated from Anderson University magna cum laude with departmental honors in business management. Outside of ChurchShield, Kristin and her husband, Curt, have been married since 2008, and they have a son, Cameron, who was born in 2014.

Payroll Specialist
Natalie brings an impressive skill set to her role at ChurchShield. Not surprisingly, she’s involved with a number of ChurchShield departments, including payroll, compensation, and IRS compliance. Natalie graduated magna cum laude from Anderson University. She holds a double concentration degree in organizational management and global business. Natalie graduated with department honors from the Falls School of Business, and she was also recognized as the school’s top senior graduate.

Jessica has been with ChurchShield since 2006. She has assisted with various projects in multiple departments including accounting and payroll. Jessica now enjoys working exclusively in the payroll department as a processor. Jessica graduated summa cum laude from Anderson University with a B.A. in accounting, earning departmental honors. Jessica and her husband Tyler are members of a local church where they are leaders in the middle school ministry. They are also kept busy raising their two young boys, Eli and Jace.
